Cleaning and disinfecting public spaces have changed forever since the COVID-19 pandemic started. People are now more aware of bacteria and viruses that linger on the surfaces we touch. The use of hand sanitizers, soap, and cleaning solutions are more prominent than ever. As we continue to make our way through this pandemic, we can learn more about it and its lifespan on various surfaces.
The New England Journal of Medicine and other studies have found that the lifespan of the virus varies on different surfaces, and the research has shown the following:
- Cardboard: One day
- Copper: Approximately four hours
- Plastic: Three days
- Stainless steel: More than three days
- Glass: Up to four days
- Wood: Two days
- Paper: Up to four days
With the increased knowledge of how long the virus can last on certain surfaces is beneficial. Still, there are also many other factors to consider, such as being indoors or outdoors, the moisture and temperature levels as well as sunlight exposure.
Given this information and the constant research to further understand the virus, we have continued to educate ourselves and the services we provide. Disinfecting is no longer just about a spray bottle. Our disinfecting procedures include electrostatic spraying. Electrostatic spraying is a complete and thorough tool that applies disinfectant to surfaces in a relatively short period of time with no down time. With this addition, we are able to offer a 360-degree disinfecting solution on the surfaces and materials we encounter. Disinfectant, when coupled with the sprayer, releases a magnetically charged solution that wraps around all touchpoints and grounded room surfaces. This spray is perfect for eliminating viruses and bacteria from the areas in which it is sprayed
In higher traffic and public spaces like gyms, clinics, daycares, nursing homes, and office spaces, just wiping everything down might not be the most effective or the most comfortable form of cleaning. Since COVID-19 has been discovered to only live on surfaces for a brief amount of time, continually using disinfectants can be harmful to the user as well as the building and area occupants. It is important to us that we are cleaning in the most effective ways possible to ensure everyone occupying the room feels like they are in a safe and clean space.
